Skoda Slavia Facelift Unveiled, Superb Diesel Returns!

Are sedans officially back? Well, it seems so, as Skoda has introduced two of its sedans with updates. Skoda as official unveiled the Slavia Facelift. And alongside this, they have also confirmed the return of the Superb with the diesel engine. Let’s discuss the Skoda Slavia facelift and Superb with a TDI.

With the facelift, Skoda has kept the Slavia’s core mechanicals pretty much the same. Following the updates, the Slavia Facelift gets refreshed styling with revised headlamps and taillamps. In addition to this are the revised front and rear bumpers, front grille, and fog lighting. Finishing it all off is the newer set of alloy wheels.

Now the updated Slavia features a larger 10.25-inch driver’s display and the 10.1-inch infotainment screen. In addition to this, it now also gets a rear seat backrest massager as well. Additional features remain a 360-degree camera, single-panel sunroof, power and ventilated seats, and much more.

Powering the Slavia facelift is the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol (114bhp & 178Nm) and the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (148bhp & 250Nm). Interestingly, the 1.0-litre now gets the 8-speed torque converter, which replaces the older 6-speed torque converter. The 6-speed manual remains on sale along with the 1-litre engine. While the 1.5-litre units it to be offered with a 7-speed DSG Gearbox. 

Skoda has yet to put a price tag on the Slavia facelift. But with the update, we can expect a price hike of about Rs 40,000 to Rs 65,000. For context, the current generation of the Slavia is being priced within Rs 11.76 lakh and Rs 21.72 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Do you think these updates are worth it? 

Skoda Superb Diesel Confirmed!

Back in 2023, following the stricter pollution norms, Skoda discontinued their flagship sedan, the Superb. But with the unveiling of the Slavia facelift, they also stated that they would bring back the Superb, that too along with the TDI engine. Skoda will bring this sedan via the CBU route and will be offered with only one trim, the Laurin & Klement. 

As a fourth-generation Skoda Superb, this luxury sedan features a signature front grille, dual projector LED Matrix beam headlights, and a slightly redesigned front fascia. By no means is this a small car, with a length of about 4.9 meters, along with a low roofline and sharp design elements. For comfort and convenience, the Superb is to be equipped with a 12.9-inch touch screen, 10-inch digital cluster, panoramic sunroof, wireless connectivity and charging, Level-2 ADAS, and powered & ventilated seats.

Under the hood, the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine will produce about 150bhp and 360Nm. And this engine is to be paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Achieving 0 to 100 km/h in about 9.2 seconds. Also, the top speed is electronically limited to 225 km/h. Known for its fuel efficiency overseas, with a full tank you are expected to drive from Mumbai to Delhi on a single tank, which is about 1,400 km.

With the given diesel and modern features, the Superb is expected to be priced between Rs 65 lakh and Rs 75 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). As the discussion and showcase of the Superb is already all around, we can expect it to be here in India by early 2027.
