Tata Avinya Spotted!
Most resources claiming that this new test mule belongs to the Tata Avinya could be partially correct but not entirely. Because we are not new to the Avinya, as we have already seen it at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. The overall silhouette and shape might be pretty much identical to the Avinya concept. But hear us out! This is much more likely to be the Chinese-made Exceed Sterra ET, which is also known as the Chery Exlantix ET. So, why exactly is everyone claiming it to be the Avinya? There is a proper explanation for that as well! Here is your answer-
Tata Avinya & Chery Exlantix ET- Relation
Earlier last month, the Indian automaker officially stated that they have partnered with Chery to use the Freelander architecture. Along with that, Tata has announced a direct partnership with Chery Motors to get the E0X platform for the Avinya. There are many explanations why the Exceed Sterra ET could be tested in India. But among those, the most relevant explanation is that Tata Motors might be using the Sterra ET to test the E0X platform for Indian conditions.
Tata Avinya X- Details
From the partnership announcements from the automaker, we can only have a brief idea of what Avinya could offer. That being said, this platform is flexible to accommodate a 65 kWh to 80+ kWh battery pack. We can expect the 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs from the other modern Tata EVs to be offered with this platform. It would be interesting to see whether Tata is looking forward to offering an AWD powertrain option with this SUV or not. As they have been receiving a great response for their QWD.
Just like the futuristic design on the outside, the inside is expected to complement the design. Avinya X could feature a triple-screen layout, as we have seen with the modern Tatas. Other features could be a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charger, a premium JBL audio system, and a 540-degree camera. Also, to ensure an additional level of safety, we can also expect the level-2+ ADAS system.
Expected Pricing & Launch-
With the Avinya, Tata could make their entry into the premium luxury EV segment. Competing against the Hyundai Ioniq 5, BYD Atto 3, and Seal. As the popularity of this segment is also growing, Tata is expected to price their SUV well. Considering that we could expect the Avinya to be priced between Rs 42 lakh and Rs 60 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). With the platform being tested already, Tata might be taking considerable steps to launch this SUV very soon. We could expect Tata Avinya to be launched by the mid-2027.
