Earlier, Tata brought the AWD option to its SUV lineup after ages. And even after being offered in electric powertrains, many of us are already excited about this offering. To take this even further, the brand seems to be testing this AWD powertrain with its legendary SUV. You might have already guessed it; we are definitely talking about the much-anticipated Tata Safari EV. And the Tata Safari EV has been spotted again in heavy camouflage, and here is everything we know so far and also what we can expect from this new 7-seater.
Tata Safari EV Spotted-
Most of us were very disappointed when Tata brought back the legendary Safari nameplate. The shift from the rugged boxy design and 4×4 powertrain, towards a futuristic design with FWD caused this disappointment. But with the Safari EV, Tata might bring the AWD powertrain to the Safari nameplate. Even with the heavy camouflage the overall silhouette of the Safari EV is pretty much identical to the ICE variant. What’s new then??
Updated Interiors- Tata Safari EV
Major changes have been made to the interiors of the Safari EV. Some features are expected to be derived from other modern flagship Tata to be introduced into the Safari EV. This could include the offering of the triple-screen layout featuring a 10.25-inch driver’s display, and a pair of 12.3-inch screens for central infotainment and co-passenger respectively. Other features like a panorama sunroof, ventilated and powered seats, dual-zone climate control, gesture-controlled tailgate, and much more are expected to remain the same as the ICE Version. Powertrain
The Safari EV is likely to be underpinned by similar mechanicals as that of the Harrier EV and Sierra EV. This SUV is expected to feature the 65kWh or 63kWh battery pack and the 75kWh battery pack. While the smaller battery is only to be offered with single motor setup RWD configuration. However, with the bigger 75 kWh battery pack, you can choose between RWD and AWD( QWD), as you can opt for a dual-motor setup. Depending on the battery packs and variants, the Safari EV is expected to offer a range between 550 kms and 650 kms.
Expected Pricing
With the given offering and 7-seater SUV layout, the Safari EV is likely to be priced between Rs 23.50 lakh and Rs 33.50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). And Tata is expected to launch this new SUV by the coming festive season. Once launched, the Safari EV’s major rival will be Mahindra’s recently launched XEV 9S.
