Kia Sorento Launch Confirmed
Kia India has officially confirmed the Kia Sorento India Launch for September 4. Way before Kia made its official announcement, a few dealers had already started accepting pre-bookings for the new SUV. Now, alongside confirming the launch date, Kia India has also announced that official bookings for the Sorento are open. Interested buyers can reserve the SUV by paying a booking amount of Rs 25,000. Kia Sorento- Details
We have good news for those who loved the Tiger Nose front grille on the Seltos earlier. Up front, the Sorento features a Tiger Nose-inspired front grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps along with the L-shaped DRLs. Overall silhouette of the Sorento appears to be long and boxy. Adding to the SUV character are the gloss black ORVMs, black roof rails, and chrome window surrounds. Finishing it all off are the dual-tone alloy wheels which are more likely to be 20-inchers.
Interior & Features
Kias are known for their feature-rich cabins, and the Sorento is no different. Kia is much more likely to offer you a choice between the 6-seater or a 7-seater layout with the Sorento. Sorento will feature a curved dual-screen setup with a 12.3-inch infotainment and driver display. Other expected offerings include a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, electrically adjustable seats, wireless charging, and much more. For added safety and convenience this SUV will also feature multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a Level-2 ADAS system.
Powertrain- Kia Sorento India Launch
With the launch date, the automaker has also confirmed the power units of this SUV. Sorento is gonna be the very first strong hybrid from Kia in the Indian market. This hybrid powertrain is to come equipped with the 1.6-litre petrol engine and electric motor producing combined output of 238 hp and 380 Nm. Another option remains the similar 2.2-litre diesel engine that is being offered with the Carnival. This diesel unit produces about 202 hp and 441 Nm, paired with an 8-speed DCT. Buyers can also expect both powertrains to offer a refined driving experience, with the hybrid focusing on better fuel efficiency, while the diesel should continue to appeal to those who frequently travel long distances or prefer effortless highway performance.
Expected Pricing
Now, all that remains is the pricing. Following the Kia Sorento India Launch, the SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 48 lakh and Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom). If Kia manages to price it aggressively, the Sorento could emerge as a strong alternative to the Toyota Fortuner, especially for buyers who prioritise premium features, a refined hybrid powertrain, and modern technology over traditional ladder-frame toughness.
