CAROVAAR THOUGHTS:
Duster comes from the Renault Mahindra partnership from 2012. Renault is a famous car brand in France, where it’s famous for making some of the weirdest cars in the world. However, Duster was a completely different product, maybe due to its tie-up with Dacia. Moving on with the car, this was suv trendsetter in India. Before the Duster launch, the market was mostly populated with sedans and a few MPVs. Duster was a gem of a car in that era.
Duster was not as feature-loaded as most of the modern cars at any time, but the durability, performance, practicality, and ownership experience were the field’s grounds where the Duster really proved itself. It was a rugged compact SUV, some might call it a crossover as well, but the car with the good ground clearance, offering All Wheel Drive, and the considerable road presence can be counted into the list of the SUVs in India.
Duster offers a fabulous mild range with the help of the 1.5L Diesel engine producing around 108 bhp @ 3900 rpm and 248 Nm torque @ 2250 rpm, and the 1.3 L petrol turbo producing around 154 bhp @ 5500 rpm and 254 Nm torque @ 1600 rpm. This was a practical Compact SUV with 5 doors, 5-person capacity, and 475 litres of boot space. It offers a 50-liter fuel tank capacity.
This is a perfect car that you can take out with your small family or on a weekend getaway along the lake site having enough boot space to carry all the picnic essentials in it. As we discussed before that this car does not offer many features, but I feel this car was the on-point car to have enough things. Talking about safety, the new versions offer 2 airbags and a 3-star NCAP safety rating; the older versions didn’t offer any, sadly. Duster is a very well brought together product that you can consider buying.
IS DUSTER A CAR OF YOUR TYPE?
Duster is a perfect car that you can take to the office and also take this car to the fun and adventurous places on the holidays with 4 people along with you. If this is all you need, then definitely you should consider a Duster will buying your next car. There are certain things you should consider before buying this Compact SUV, which we will discuss in the upcoming points.
ECONOMICS OF THE DUSTER:
As far as our research through the customer reviews, we understood that every 10k kms the service cost of the Duster is somewhere near about 10-15k, and the Duster offers around 13-20 km/l, depending on the variants. This may vary, but overall Duster running cost for 1 km is around 3 rupees.
Considering it being the SUV, the economy that it puts out is really impressive and pretty much affordable, if you find the right condition car for your needs. The Renault Duster costs around 3 lakhs to 6.50 lakhs in the used car market in India. We feel is a pretty good price, depending on the various factors. Duster has always been a value-for-money package and pretty reliable, if you find the right choice.
FLAWS IN RENAULT DUSTER:
It lacks in features and feels outdated for its age; it belongs, also can’t be called a feature-loaded car; it misses various features like sunroof, wireless charging, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, etc.
SUMMARY:
Duster has a great driving feel; despite being a big car, it is pretty great to drive around with. Due to its big size, the car feels air and has a decent amount of space to utilise. Pretty decent with the mileage and overall cost effectiveness. The hack of the modern-day features is the only problem with her, but otherwise it is a really great car to consider as your next option to get into cars or even to upgrade from your current small car, also it can be a great secondary car as well; it is manageable in cities as well as on the highway.
